The Ukrainian International Education Council understands the difficulties international students can face in Ukraine. They may have a homesick, miss their friends and relatives and, of course, they are busy with their studies. In order to cheer them up, help to express themselves and to give an opportunity to have fun together, every year we organize different entertaining events, For example, this year our organization has become a sponsor of a beauty contest “Miss Africa Vinnytsia 2014”.

The most beautiful girls – students of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University gathered on November 15 in Feride Plaza, to compete for the title of Miss Africa Vinnytsia 2014. The contest was to promote friendly relations between Africa and Ukraine, and the girls were able to show how African and Ukrainian traditions can interweave. Eight charming girls from Ghana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Morocco and African performed Ukrainian and African folk dances, demonstrated vyshyvankas, casual style and fashionable evening dresses.

The audience who came to support the girls was multinational, so the show was hold in Ukrainian and English languages. The performance began with a ceremonial raising of the flags of the participating countries. In addition the audience was also entertained by  a singing duo of two Ukrainian girls, a team of gymnastics club with a «Mini Jackson Girl dance», Valentin Stolyarchuk with the lyric song "Isabel".

This contest was won by a beauty from Namibia - Monika Kramer. Throughout the show she smiled charmingly , what didn’t remain unnoticed by the jury. When in the final interview the judges asked her a question "What would you change in yourself?", she boldly replied "Nothing, I am who I am."
